When Kenzie Newton opened Columbia’s only dedicated needlepoint shop three years ago, it was the culmination of two decades’ love for the traditional craft. “My mom has always needlepointed and she taught me,” she says. “Right after I was married, the first thing I needlepointed was my husband’s Christmas stocking.”

Needlepoint is often especially thought of during the holiday season as special family Christmas ornaments, stockings, or ornamental pillows come out of hibernation for their annual, month-long display. Forest Acres Needlepoint offers unique hand-painted canvases as well as a wide variety of specialty threads, tools, and accessories.

“We offer stocking and ornament canvases and can help a gift giver pick out the perfect project if they have someone they’d like to help start a new hobby,” Kenzie explains. “We also offer gift certificates and have holiday wish lists.”
