The Sunday family concert focuses on the biographical. Philip Glass’ third string quartet paints a vivid picture of the eccentric Japanese author Yukio Mishima (this music was written for the film Mishima by Paul Schrader) and through an autobiographical lens, Smetana’s first quartet which captures different aspects of his life.
Program:
Adolphus Hailstork Adagio
Glass Quartet No.3 “Mishima”
