Columbia Baroque Concert: “The Musical World of Shakespeare’s Plays

Join Columbia Baroque with guest artist Theodore Cheek, theorbo, for music from Shakespeare’s plays including songs and dances from The Tempest, The Merchant of Venice, and As You Like It, plus a lute solo from The Merry Wives of Windsor, a harpsichord solo from Twelfth Night, and in-cidental music from A Midsummer Night’s Dream featuring a suite of dances from The Fairy Queen by Henry Purcell.
Performers for the evening are Theodore Cheek, lute and theorbo; Brittnee Siemon, mezzo-soprano; Jean Hein baroque recorder; Mary Hostetler Hoyt and Erika Cutler, baroque violin; Gail Ann Schroeder, viola da gamba; and William Douglas organ/harpsichord.
“Concert Conversations” with Sarah Williams will begin at 7:00 pm followed by the 7:30 performance.
