With the encouragement and support of Gov. and Mrs. Henry McMaster, the Governor’s Mansion Commission began a project in 2017 to plant a new generation of trees and to refurbish the Mansion Gardens. Since these gardens are often the first impression of our state for visiting business leaders, heads of state, and tourists, the commission’s goal was not only for the garden to be beautiful but also to include native plants as well as plants with a history in South Carolina.
