Natural nuts and farm-food fiends: Columbia is about to get vocal about eating local. The fifth annual Tasty Tomato Festival, an event that celebrates local food growers, sellers and consumers will be held on July 15 at City Roots Urban Farm. The festival is produced and founded by Sustainable Midlands, the prevailing patrons of the region’s sustainable food efforts. While the event tributes all locally grown food, it devotes most of its focus to the myriad of mouth-watering tomato varieties grown throughout the Midlands community. Tasty Tomato’s programming will comprise of tomato tasting, live music, local vendors and the highly anticipated Tasty Tomato Contest.
