Nine spaces were staged by talented Columbia designers at 1618 Graeme Drive, a custom designed home built by the Wilson Company. The company, started by Evan Wilson in 2008, targets Columbia buyers in established neighborhoods who see the value of a seamless design/build approach. A Clemson University graduate in urban design and planning, Evan shares that his interest in building began while he was enrolled at Clemson and had an opportunity to study in Genova, Italy.

The five-bedroom, four and a half bath, 3,700-square-foot Lowcountry style home features spacious custom bathrooms, hardwood floors, a modern kitchen with white Carrara countertops and wide, welcoming porches. The open floor plan with 10-foot ceilings downstairs and 9-foot upstairs gives each space a naturally lit, gracious ambience. The designers could not have asked for a better backdrop!

Upon entering the home from the wide porch with pale blue Southern-inspired ceiling, Mandy Summers-Smith’s dining room is a highlight with shades of aqua featured through custom local art and table settings. The rear of the home is a spacious living area combined with the kitchen. Amanda McNabb and Amelia Bradley from Strobler Home Furnishings create sitting room glamour through airy artwork and neutral tones in a setting with classic furniture selections.

Jeffers McGill appliances are built-in with top-of-the-line brands. The focal point is the wonderful six-burner gas cooktop. The den area, designed by Linda Burnside, is spectacular with dramatic details, a balanced seating arrangement, and an inviting combination of hues, including green, black, brown, gray, and white.

Terry Shepherd with Southeastern Salvage always has a surprise in store. The plethora of furniture, accessories, plants, rugs, mirrors, art, and dinnerware is fun and colorful, creating a lively array on the back veranda. The master bedroom, which is on the ground floor, is a focus on elegance. Black, gold, and white find balance in a gorgeous French accent chair, double chest in black, textured pillows, and complementing linens adorning a white bed frame. Terri Veitinger of Ethan Allen fashions an inviting space; pay attention to the beautiful reflection cast in the mirror.

Christy Davis’ love of blue and white, handed down from her grandmother, produces an unforgettable combination, including an antique rug, special porcelain pieces, and distinct artwork. New upholstered pieces add to the blue and white theme for the sitting room upstairs.

Veronica Russell gives the twin bedroom a novel twist with black artful bed hangings banded in white and attached to the ceiling by decorative rods. The Westend team takes playfulness in design to a new level. The juxtaposition of color and detail through the window shades, art, bed frame, and chandelier is masterful.

In reflecting on the finished product of this beautiful home, Evan Wilson credits his excellent team of five as the ones who bring the many projects to fruition. “We are a design company that builds homes,” Evan says. “It is the implementation of thoughtful design that truly impacts a place.”
