The year 2022 has been full of challenges and changes. David Coker, owner of Comfort Keepers, a nonmedical in-home care company, knows this better than anyone. Coker owns the Columbia, Sumter, Florence, Mt. Pleasant, and Summerville offices, with his first opening in 2003. With the pandemic, in-home care services have never been more needed and more beneficial.
Our caregivers can keep someone safe in their own home while providing one-on-one care, keeping that person from having to go into a nursing home or assisted living where they are at a much greater risk. Our clients can get everything they need in the comfort of their own homes safely, but also, more importantly, quality care.
“Caregivers have always been the backbone of Comfort Keepers, and we pride ourselves on hiring those with a passion for what they do,” Coker explains. “Our caregivers take their job very seriously and want to provide the best for our clients, and companionship and social interaction play a huge role in our clients’ lives keeping them active and engaged. Comfort Keepers offers all levels of nonmedical in-home care, including Alzheimer’s and dementia. Our caregivers are able to help a client with bathing, dressing, transferring, meal preparation, and errand running, to name a few. Our plan of care is tailored to meet our individual client needs and can be updated as needed throughout their time with Comfort Keepers. For more information on how Comfort Keepers can assist you, please give us a call today!”

Still Hopes Episcopal Retirement Community

At Still Hopes, we try to live by two simple words: “Live Well.” COVID had us navigating ebbs and flows to living well over the past few years, but we are excited for what is and what will come.
Our Life Engagement programming is back in full swing with a robust calendar that includes trips to Beaufort, Hendersonville, and Newbery, art classes, golf outings, Fireflies baseball games, visits to the Columbia Museum of Art, and much more. We are partnering with the University of South Carolina School of Music with events throughout the upcoming year.
Our dining venues are bustling. We are excited about the re-opening of our Bistro this month, which has undergone a major overhaul over the past two years. The new Bistro will include not just the well-loved seated dining, but also a new Pub area where residents can meet with friends for a drink and a bite to eat.
Still Hopes Wellness Center has also welcomed, or rather celebrated, our long-time wellness programmer Taylor Hall as he began his journey as our new director of wellness, bringing his fresh ideas and innovative programming to our residents and wellness center community members.
As we continue to close out a successful year, focused on living life as full as God intends it, we are reminded that it is you — our residents, staff members, and the greater Midlands community — that allows us to continue to fulfill that mission every day. Thank you for continuing to name us “Columbia’s Best Retirement Community.” We will continue to cherish and live up to that honor for years to come.
