How did you get involved with this business?
As a DIY guy who had success with flipping properties, I’m always looking for the newest innovations to make our houses unique. While on a business trip, I read the October 2011 edition of Entrepreneur magazine about a product called Monkey Bars. I used them to replace the wooden brackets I had installed in my construction trailer. The rack and hook system and the versatility and durability were so impressive that I decided to look into becoming a dealer.
How did your business begin?
Our Columbia distributorship began with a pickup truck, custom-fitted trailer and a rental storage unit. After completing training with the folks at Monkey Bars, we launched a marketing campaign and exhibited at the Home and Garden Show. As our business quickly expanded, we moved to our new warehouse and added other products to our list of storage solutions.
What is the latest trend in your business?
We have seen a growing trend of homeowners as well as small businesses upgrade those unsightly spaces into useable rooms. We have transformed garages and basements into workshops, offices, playrooms and even pet rooms. Our washable floor coatings are decorative and more durable than ever before –– and work well in place of tile or carpet. Our full line of cabinetry and shelving provide unlimited possibilities.
What is something people would be surprised to learn about your business?
Well, we have families too, so we understand how daily life can create chaos and clutter. Our Midlands location offers a full line of shelving systems, overhead garage storage, cabinetry and finished floor coverings. Our goal is to get everything possible off of the floor. When we are finished, our installers will even hang your items on the Monkey Bars before they leave. We are pros at putting trikes and bikes, garden tools and sporting goods in their proper place.
