Cardinal Newman has enjoyed tremendous growth over the last 150 years, thanks to the leadership of administrators, faculty, families and friends. Through all of the changes, we have remained focused on encouraging each and every student to achieve personal excellence. We care about developing the whole person by bringing out each student’s unique gifts and talents, and our nurturing environment makes a difference in the lives we touch.
Faculty, guidance counselors and families work together to create a plan for academic success for each student. We offer a multifaceted academic education with a strong emphasis on core subjects, community service and the arts. Our college preparatory curriculum is designed to serve a diverse academic population by offering multiple levels of all courses. In the fall of 2012, we launched a new learning opportunity, the DeLaSalle Program. This program is a full inclusion program for intellectually challenged students.
By making community service a part of our core curriculum, we nurture and train our students for civic engagement and teach the value of community service for the common good. We promote an understanding of the connection between what service and faith, regardless of denomination, calls one to do and practice. Last year alone, Cardinal Newman students performed more than 14,000 hours of community service and raised over $50,000 for local charities.
Athletics are considered to be an integral part of our entire developmental program. The opportunity to compete against another school’s program is secondary to the opportunity to learn valuable life skills in a Christian environment. Athletics are kept in proper perspective, recognizing that a student athlete is a student first and an athlete second.
In the fall of 2015, Cardinal Newman will be starting a new chapter in its rich history — the move to a new campus! While the facility may be modern and advanced, our commitment to our students and families will remain the same: to create A Place of Excellence for All — Academically, Spiritually and Athletically.
