Brackish Bow Ties: Statement for Every Season

By Abbie Thielke

Brackish Bow Ties is not only showing off its feathers at weddings and events in the South but has caught attention nationwide. Actor Bill Murray has been spotted wearing one at recent awards shows including the 2014 Oscars in March as well as another lover of the rustic accessory, Jack Nicholson.

Every tie is handcrafted locally in South Carolina and each feather is hand selected therefore, no two Brackish Bow Ties are exactly alike. Ben Ross and Jeff Plotner at Brackish put painstaking effort into their products and pride themselves on genuine, intricate detail not found in mass production. Put simply, they are redefining the traditional bow tie.

Over the past couple of years, the Brackish team has expanded from solely using turkey feathers to create their masterpieces. They now feature pheasant, guinea, peacock and rooster feather ties as well. Not to mention, they named one of their ties “Big Spur” to play homage to the Carolina Gamecocks.

Ties range from $110 to about $175 and are available for purchase locally at Craig Reagin Clothiers in Lexington or Brittons of Columbia on Devine Street.  Purchases can also be made online at www.brackishbowties.com and www.orvis.com.

For further information or questions on best care practices, contact info@brackishbowties.com or call (843) 276-0075.
