A taste of heaven is closer than you think! So close, in fact, it’s as central as Five Points, equally as friendly, and serves up breakfast and lunch all day long. The Flying Biscuit Café, known for its breakfast-and-brunch-all-day menu offerings, is a national franchise with a flair for the eclectic and widely recognized for its inviting atmosphere and trendy offerings. Franchisees John Robert Barth and Kevin N. White opened Columbia’s first location on Harden Street and continue to receive rave reviews from patrons, including neighboring University of South Carolina.
Southern comfort food with a twist is a staple of The Flying Biscuit Café, where favorites such as Love Cakes, Oven Fried Green Tomato BLT, Shrimp and Grits, and “Not Your Mama’s” Pimento Cheese Sandwich accompany a variety of cocktails from Mimosas to Bloody Marys. The café’s ambiance is vibrant and upbeat with bright colors, the franchise’s signature flying angels on the ceiling, and one-of-a-kind artwork on the walls.
John Robert and Kevin put their own spin on the franchise by adding unique touches created by friends, naming signature drinks and special menu items for members of the Columbia community and featuring opportunities like free ice cream nights and balloon artistry. According to Kevin, “We are proud to be a part of the Columbia community and grateful for the warm welcome we have received from patrons and fellow business owners. As we quickly approach our first full year of operation, we are continuing to look for distinctive ways to provide a fun and unique experience for diners.”
John Robert notes, “The partnership we have established with the university, along with the catering we do for other organizations, has allowed us to extend our hospitality, and a taste of heaven, past the front doors.”
The Flying Biscuit Café is open seven days a week from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. weekdays, and from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. The Flying Biscuit Café boasts plentiful parking in back and expanded sidewalks for outdoor dining in one of Columbia’s most popular shopping and dining destinations.
