Neal Atkinson, DVM
Neal Atkinson, DVM, founded Shandon-Wood Animal Clinic in 1978 with the goal of providing the highest level of medical care in a compassionate and caring manner. In 2015, the clinic received their American Animal Hospital Association accreditation, which evaluates veterinary clinics for around 900 quality standards.
The clinic will be celebrating its 45th anniversary this June. The clinic has grown from a single doctor practice to a nine-doctor practice. Dr. Atkinson says he is most proud of the doctors and staff who provide the best care possible. Shandon-Wood has had more than 30 employees go on to become veterinarians. He feels especially pleased when the children of clients bring their beloved pets to Shandon-Wood Animal Clinic. Over the past 45 years, he has seen dogs and cats move from backyards to bedrooms and in most cases into the beds of their families. He feels truly blessed. In his words — “When you love what you do, you will never tire of going to do your job.”
