Palmetto Garage Works is a family-owned business dedicated to the South Carolina and North Florida communities for more than 14 years. Gus and Jimmy Herlong entered the auto service and tire industry in January 2008 with five existing Midas locations in the greater Columbia markets. The Herlongs’ organization provides auto service and gives back to local communities with 12 locations around the Midlands of South Carolina; seven locations in the Lowcountry areas of South Carolina; and six Midas locations in North Florida territories. The Greenville location that recently transferred ownership to PGW marked the 26th location.
Gus Herlong, his father Jimmy Herlong, and the Herlong family have always been about Total Car Care in their company, but they are also all about Total Community Care. The Herlong family partners with local programs to keep giving back to the communities where they live and do business. This year, they are donating four vehicles to families in need within the community! Some other partner programs include Camp Cole, Palmetto Baseball League, Harvest Hope Food Bank, Lowcountry Food Bank, American Red Cross, and more. #MidasPGWCares
This year the Herlong family opened the brand-new Gervais Street Midas in downtown Columbia. The idea, design, and construction of this unique Midas Auto Service location led to the Herlong family and Midas to be chosen as the recipient for the 2022 Golden Nail Award. This award is given to a business or property owner for exemplary contributions to the physical character of the greater Midlands region.
The new Gervais Street Midas location houses Palmetto Garage Works’ new training room facilities, where the Herlong teammates participate in regular customer service training. Many of the Herlong locations are now offering courtesy vehicles for customers to use while Midas is servicing their car or truck.
