Nelson Seabrook, M.D.

Nelson Seabrook, M.D., joined Consultants in Gastroenterology in 2021 and is excited to serve the community and raise his family in his hometown. Dr. Seabrook graduated from Wofford College and received a masters from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University prior to starting medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He completed his internal medicine training and had the privilege of serving as a chief medical resident at the University of Louisville before completing a fellowship in gastroenterology at the Medical University of South Carolina.

Growing up, he watched his father, March Seabrook, M.D., passionately serve the Columbia community as a gastoenerologist and build the foundation of Consultants in Gastroenterology. This interest in the discipline was furthered by watching his mother-in-law lose a battle with colon cancer early in his training.

While he remains primarily dedicated to colon cancer prevention, he treats a variety of gastrointestinal disease including gastroesophageal reflux disease, Barrett’s esophagus, inflammatory bowel disease including Crohn’s disease, and ulcerative colitis as well as irritable bowel syndrome and liver disease. 

Outside of work, Dr. Seabrook spends time with his wife, Hanna, along with their daughter, son and two dogs. He enjoys racquet sports, golf, and following several collegiate and professional sports teams. He is proud to live in Columbia and hopes to make a difference in the medical community.
