Jan Jernigan

Jan Jernigan is a Financial Advisor, First Vice President, with Morgan Stanley in Columbia, SC. Morgan Stanley is a leading global wealth management firm.

Jan considers it more important than ever to have a financial advisor to help with these volatile markets. Jan has established a dedicated client base and has been practicing for more than 30 years. She sees her job as defining goals and risk tolerance, setting realistic expectations, then creating a strategy for each investor to help achieve those goals.

Jan is very active in the community and recently served as the American Heart Association’s “Open Your Heart Chair” for the 2020 Midlands Heart Ball. Last year she was named the 2019 “Woman of the Year” by the Midlands Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Jan is involved with many other charities including Welvista, Pawmetto Lifeline and Sistercare. She is President of the University of South Carolina School of Dance board. The Board raises money for dance scholarships to UofSC. Jan loves sailing and served as the 2018 Commodore of the Columbia Sailing Club. She is active with Capital City/Lake Murray Country, a nonprofit organization promoting tourism in South Carolina.

Jan is co-chair of the Morgan Stanley National Diversity & Inclusion Alumni Council. This group works year-round to encourage all employees to use their backgrounds, talents, and cultural identities in the workplace.

She lives at Lake Murray and has a hound-dog rescue named “Maddie.” Jan has a daughter, Polly; son-in-law, Cliffton; and two grandchildren, Gabrielle (4) and Isabelle (2).
