Whether you are looking for a real chef-inspired dining experience or unique rooftop cocktails, Hendrix Columbia has a table for you. Located on the 1600 block of Main Street in downtown Columbia, Hendrix sits in the historic 140 year building directly across from the old Tapp’s Department store. Hendrix occupies the second floor and rooftop, offering a chef driven menu and craft cocktail selections alongside a carefully selected wine menu and 20 draft beer taps.

Walking up the stairs to the dining room, the history of the building begins to take shape. Brick walls and 140-year-old exposed wooden rafters add a unique dining experience. The dining room is filled with locally crafted wooden tables and the walls adorned with paintings sourced from South Carolina artists. 

Hendrix sources top quality ingredients from local purveyors, focusing on relationships with farmers, cheesemakers, and brewers to put together a menu that rotates often. Local executive chef Frank Bradley and chef de cuisine Joe Lytle’s menu showcases what South Carolina has to offer. Items such as fresh blue crab hush puppies, Carolina Heritage Farms pork chops, and Manchester Farms chicken-fried quail are just a few examples of what they’re able to source locally. Frank prides himself on forming relationships with farmers and seafood suppliers to ensure the highest quality ingredients hit the plate. Joe brings his knowledge of bread and dough making to the table, offering pizza night on the rooftop every Thursday with live music from local musicians. Joe’s pizzas selections rotate each week, focusing on scratch made dough, and fresh ingredients, perfect for a sunset view alongside a craft cocktail, glass of wine or cold beer.

Gabe King, Hendrix’s bar manager, has put together a drink menu that is sure to satisfy. Craft cocktails that are either boozy and honest or sour and refreshing are enjoyed at either the large downstairs bar or open-air rooftop bar. Gabe’s in-house barrel aged cocktails add a unique twist to some classics as well. Gabe focuses on relationships with brewers, wine makers, and distributors to ensure the menu is both approachable and epicurean. 

Hendrix restaurant is open for dinner only Tuesday through Saturday.
