Erick Singh, M.D.

Erick Singh, M.D., grew up in a family of educators with both his father and mother teaching at colleges in Greenwood, S.C. The value they placed on education served as the driving force to excel in school. “I decided early on that I’d like to work hard so that I can reach a point where my knowledge and skill could help others,” Dr. Singh says. “It was this desire that led me to become a physician.”

Dr. Singh graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2001. He then went on to medical school and internal medicine residency at the Medical University of South Carolina where he met his wife, Claire. After completing a year as a research fellow for esophageal disorders at MUSC, Dr. Singh went to complete a gastroenterology fellowship at Augusta University. During fellowship and with additional teaching in Montreal, CA, Dr. Singh was able to be trained in advanced pancreatic and biliary endoscopy including endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) as well as general gastroenterology and hepatology.

“I feel blessed in the training experiences I’ve been able to attain as it has allowed me to be a well-rounded gastroenterologist with the widest possible skill set to try to help my patients with all of their GI issues. I hope this allows us to treat our patients locally without having to send them elsewhere if at all possible.” Dr. Singh returned to South Carolina and joined Consultants in Gastroenterology in 2014. He currently serves as the chief of gastroenterology at Lexington Medical Center and remains active in the community having been a school board member and chairperson at Glenforest School. Consultants in Gastroenterology has 10 board certified physicians, all of whom deliver excellent and compassionate care in all aspects of gastroenterology and hepatology — short of transplantation. A team approach has been the key to fulfilling the mission of the group.
