September 23, 2021 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
FreeADMISSION COST: FREE
Location: Koger Center for the Arts
Join the UofSC Symphonic Winds for their first concert of the academic year, as they present “Moments to Memories.” Our lives are filled with countless moments, of which some are more lasting than others. The moments and memories referenced in this concert are varied. For those who have played in wind bands, memories of classic wind band literature might include Dello Joio’s Scenes from the Louvre and Alfred Reed’s A Festival Prelude. Katahj Copley’s Halcyon Hearts specifically references peaceful and ideal moments from our memories. Carter Pann’s Hold This Boy and Listen can evoke memories for the parents in our audience, and Alex Shapiro’s tone poem, Moment, allows our minds to drift to memories and images unique to each individual.
Program:
Copley, Halcyon Hearts
Pann, Hold This Boy and Listen
Reed, A Festival Prelude
Shapiro, Moment
Dello Joio, Scenes from the Louvre
Fillmore, His Honor
