The Palmetto Opera presents a concert of Great Moments in Italian Opera.
On Sunday, June 5, 2022 at 3:00 p.m., The Palmetto Opera brings their full-scale concert with orchestra of Great Moments in Italian Opera to the Koger Center for the Arts. Great Moments in Italian Opera from Bel Canto to Verismo is an extravaganza of fun, best-loved Italian operas, laughter, and an elegant after-performance party to meet the cast. The concert features international and local soloists singing some of the most famous and well-known operatic arias, duets, and quartets with orchestra from Puccini’s La Bohème, Verdi’s La Traviata, Rossini’s The Barber of Seville and more. Making Opera Part of South Carolina
The Palmetto Opera, founded in 2001, is in its eleventh season of full opera productions. It incorporates Midlands-area opera professionals and students in its opera productions and concerts. Monthly Opera Thursday performances are performed the first two Thursdays of every month and feature local and regional opera singers. Performances are at Villa Tronco restaurant in Columbia and other venues throughout the year. The Palmetto Opera’s educational program for high schools gives students an introduction to the world of opera and the experience of live grand opera. Columbia had not had a professional opera season in over 28 years when The Palmetto Opera produced its first grand opera, Madama Butterfly, in 2011. People from over 23 zip codes outside of Columbia attended its production, Rigoletto, on January 30, 2022 at the Koger Center for the Arts.
