Sisters and Rebels: book talk & signing by Jacquelyn Dowd Hall

October 3, 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

The University of South Carolina Libraries and the University South Caroliniana Society present Jacquelyn Dowd Hall, who will discuss her new book, Sisters and Rebels: A Struggle for the Soul of America on Thursday, October 3, at 5 p.m. at the Ernest F. Hollings Special Collections Library, 1322 Greene Street, Columbia, SC 29208. The event is free.

Sisters and Rebels tells the story of Elizabeth, Grace, and Katharine Lumpkin, sisters who followed divergent paths leading from a family history steeped in the Lost Cause of the Confederacy into a progressive twentieth century of women’s achievement, desegregation, communism, McCarthyism and civil rights. Dr. Hall is a National Humanities Medal-winning author and professor emerita at UNC-Chapel Hill. Dr. Hall will be available to sign copies of her book, offered for purchase after the talk.

The event is free and open to the public. Go online for more information and to reserve your free tickets at sistersandrebels.eventbrite.com, or call 803-777-3131.
