Palmetto Mastersingers Festival of Choirs

SHE Sings, Columbia’s new women’s chorus, will be one of four groups joining the Palmetto Mastersingers in its annual Festival of Choirs on Saturday, February 23 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Andrews Baptist Church, 230 Bush River Road, Columbia. This is the first collaboration of the women of SHE Sings and the men of the Mastersingers. Lillian Quackenbush is artistic director of the Mastersingers and one of four directors of SHE Sings.
Other choirs participating in the festival are the Irmo High School Concert Choir, directed by Frank Turner; the Union United Methodist Choir, directed by Don Kirkendoll; and the Lyttleton Street United Methodist Children’s Choirs, directed by Jason Brown. Fredna Lee, Angela Powers, and Paula Wilson also direct SHE Sings.
Each choir will present a set, and then all will unite for the finale, “Hope for Resolution,” a unique blending of a traditional doctrinal hymn and a South African freedom song.
