Give It Up for Good Yard Sale

Join the University of South Carolina’s EcoReps at their 9th annual Give It Up For Good yard sale! Volunteers collect the items that are left behind in dorms and then weigh and sort them for the community to browse through. These items are everything from dishes to furniture, and many are still in great condition. Every dollar made from the sale is donated to Habitat for Humanity. Last summer’s sale collected more than 22 tons of material and raised more than $13,000.

This year, the public sale will be held from 7 a.m.-12 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, at 483 Sunset Blvd (the old Habitat for Humanity Restore). For this public sale, admission is free. Items such as small refrigerators and microwaves are available (though they tend to go quickly), and there are thousands of pounds of clothing as well as tables full of bedding, dishes, and books.

University faculty, staff, and students may attend a preview sale from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, May 31. This day offers thanks to everyone at the university who supported the sale, from donating items to advertising the event. The admission charge is $5 for those with a Carolina Card and $10 for those without a Carolina Card.
