How did your business begin?
Liz and I started in 1981 as a lawn maintenance company.
What is the mission of your business?
To provide gardeners with the highest quality service, plants and shopping experience while providing them with displays that can be duplicated at their own homes or businesses.
What differentiates your business from other specialists in the field?
I think our people are the key. We have great products, and we all know what we are talking about.
How do you keep up with the latest advances in your field?
We stay in the know with seminars, trade shows, buying markets, visiting nurseries and magazines.
How did you get involved with this business?
I started doing lawn maintenance when I was 11 years old and have always loved the outdoors.
What do you like best about your line of work?
The plants. I love the ever-changing palate of plants and products while also maintaining the tried and true.
What is something people would be surprised to learn about you or your business?
We do flower arrangements for special events and weddings!
What are your goals for this year?
I would like to see our company continue to grow; this is our 35th year in business, and I want to continue to keep Columbia green and growing.
How does your company give back to the Columbia community?
We donate a tremendous amount of gift cards to schools, youth groups, churches, garden clubs, civic organizations and local fundraisers for auctions. We also do a lot of gardening talks to theses same groups.
