The Building Center, Inc.

Family owned and operated since 1978, The Building Center, Inc. is one of the largest full-service building supplier in the region. The Norris family created a business that was originally focused on the professional builder but has since expanded to Columbia to also accommodate the remodeler and the serious “do-it-yourselfer.” Six years ago, they acquired a vacant Lowe’s building in West Columbia and saw a new business venture. “The location is perfect,” says Glenn Hoy, general manager of the Columbia branch. “It’s easily accessible and allows us to showcase our products while also having an entire hardware assortment.”

The Building Center, Inc. is comprised of four independent facilities throughout the Carolinas each with their own truck fleet to ensure speedy delivery. Through manufacturing and distribution, this is the place to discover everything needed for a future project from framing, treated and engineered lumber, trusses, roofing, siding, windows, custom entry doors, millwork, railing systems, decking, columns, hardware and many other supplies. The Building Center, Inc. prides itself on having more inventory and more variety than any of its competitors while also possessing impeccable service and on-time delivery, or as they put it, “Service you can build on.” Glenn says, “Another advantage to working with a small business in creating a dream project is that we are very nimble and can easily change to fit our customers needs. We can add people, add products and are much quicker to adapt since we don’t have the same red tape as the big companies.”

The Building Center, Inc. has an exemplary sales department, including a truss design specialist, which provides materials as well as value suggestions to assist the customer with all of their needs. “We work and live right here. The Building Center, Inc. is focused on keeping profits here in the Columbia while also recognizing what we represent in the community.” To contact The Building Center, Inc. for your next building project, call Glenn Hoy at (803) 939-9290 or visit
