The Midlands is home to a temporary safe haven for abused, abandoned and neglected children known as Palmetto Place Children’s Shelter. This year, Palmetto Place will be raising money and support for these children with their annual Sweet & Savory Competition and the popular Rocking Chair-ity.
Chefs from around the Midlands will showcase their talents in the Sweet & Savory Competition, preparing a variety of savory hors d’oeuvres and sweet decadent desserts as they vie for the People’s Choice Award and a cash prize. The Rocking Chair-ity, a special highlight of the evening, is a silent auction of one-of-a-kind hand-painted rocking chairs (both adult and child sized), children’s table and chair sets, and bar stools – all painted, decorated, themed and embellished by local artists or organizations.
Erin Galloway, executive director of Palmetto Place Children’s Shelter, says, “Join us for a night of fun while helping to meet the needs of abused and neglected children. Enjoy delicious food and a lively auction, all to benefit the Midlands’ most vulnerable children, who need your support.”
The event will be held Thursday, May 10 at the Embassy Suites Hotel at 200 Stoneridge Drive and begins at 6 p.m. Tickets are $35 per person or $60 per couple. All event proceeds benefit abused and neglected children.
