Stark Carpet

More than 70 years ago, Arthur Stark didn’t just build a business – he created one. Evolving from a custom trade carpet house to an encyclopedic resource for carpets, that business is still privately owned and run by Arthur’s sons. John and Steven Stark have directed the company since Nadia Stark, their mother, handed over the reins many years ago. Today a third generation has joined in to lead the future of the business.

Eight years ago, Stark Carpet opened a store in Charlotte, creating a popular showroom that has become a national hallmark for the company. Drew Olson and Tim Cohen manage the Charlotte location. “Stark has been a leader in carpet concepts over the years, encompassing many trends and styles from classic and old world luxury to the present modern and transitional looks,” Drew says. “Whatever the fashion of the moment, Stark leads the way with options.”

According to Tim, Stark sells more than carpet. “We also offer customers options in fabric, wall covering, furniture and paint,” he says. “Our greatest draw is the quality and diversity of design, color and construction in our selection.”

Having this depth and diversity sets the Stark business apart from other carpet sources. “Prospective buyers understand that Stark can fulfill any needs they may have,” Drew says. “Our designer-inspired styles range from classic to contemporary and can be found in all sizes, colors and textures, many of which are made custom to fit the most exacting criteria.”

Stark Carpet has always focused on quality, style and service when it comes to customers, which includes many interior designers. And since the showroom is right off the interstate south of Charlotte, many Columbians have found Stark to be the premier source for uncompromised innovative designs.

Tim says that they are proud of Stark’s strong reputation in the marketplace. “That Stark Carpet has withstood the ebb and flow of economies over the past seven decades shows passion, professionalism and stamina,” he says. “And it shows our determination to provide the highest quality products available.”
