
Thanks to a staff of highly trained, board-certified otolaryngologists, SCENT provides much more than ear, nose and throat care for patients of all ages. Top Tier Training
With training at some of the nation’s leading medical institutions, SCENT’s board-certified otolaryngologists provide many advanced treatment protocols.
Dr. Robert Puchalski is board certified in otolaryngology and sleep medicine. He completed his residency at the University of Pennsylvania. He also completed a fellowship sponsored by the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy (AAOA) and holds AAOA allergy certification. His expertise includes obstructive sleep apnea and rhinology.
Dr. Oliver Simmons is board-certified in otolaryngology and facial plastic surgery. He previously held positions at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and the University of Maryland Medical System. He has special expertise in treating craniosynostosis, which afflicts one in every 2,000 newborns.
Board-certified in otolaryngology, Dr. D. Macy Vidrine completed a fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology at Children’s Hospital Boston, Harvard Medical School. He specializes in treating complex pediatric conditions including hearing loss and pediatric sinus disease, as well as adult otolaryngologic problems.
Ms. Niccole Mount is a board-certified nurse practitioner with a graduate degree from the University of South Carolina. She also has served as a mentor and preceptor for graduate students at Vanderbilt University and the Medical University of South Carolina.

SCENT also offers patients the convenience of three family-friendly, area locations: downtown Columbia, northeast Columbia and Lugoff. Each features state-of-the-art, on-site facilities for diagnostics, CT and more. SCENT has two dedicated sleep centers and is among the few practices to offer sleep study facilities for children aged two years and older.
In addition, SCENT is home to a broad spectrum of specialty services through the Carolina Cosmetic Institute, Carolina Hair Restoration, the Snoring Institute and the Carolina Hearing Institute.
