Comfort Keepers
In the spring of 2003, David Coker’s grandmother had a stroke. “My mother and her sister were constantly running back and forth to assist her with her needs, and they really needed a break,” he says. After doing a little research about Comfort Keepers and learning that the organization has 600-plus franchise offices nationwide, David eventually met with them in Ohio and decided to bring Comfort Keepers’ same services to South Carolina.
“It has been a great experience ever since, providing quality care for so many seniors and others throughout the Midlands and being one of the few business I know of where you are fortunate enough to get thank you cards from your clients,” David shares. Comfort Keepers has been able to provide services to thousands of clients in the Columbia area. Currently, in fact, Comfort Keepers now operates in the Florence and Sumter markets as well.
“We provide assistance with household tasks, such as light housekeeping and meal preparation, and personal care tasks, such as bathing and grooming,” David explains.
In addition, Comfort Keepers offers clients a wide range of companionship services, including conversation, walks, errands (including transportation), as well as assistance with hobbies and other interests. “By providing the right mix of in-home senior care services, we are able to help your loved ones maintain independence while enhancing their quality of life,” says David.
DayBreak Adult Care
Coker Day founded DayBreak Adult Care Services in 2001 with the mission to provide quality care to help clients remain at their desired level of independence for as long as possible. Daybreak is not a franchise and is locally owned and operates only in South Carolina.
Their number one priority is to give their clients the best care possible. Some of the original caregivers are still employed at Daybreak. As the population continues to grow older, the biggest challenge is keeping up with demand and providing caregivers that meet his high standards.
Over the past 17 years, Daybreak has enhanced the lives of thousands in Columbia by allowing them to remain at home longer. Daybreak has also helped relieve family members of the stress of caring for a loved one.
