Over the past year, Fred Gantt’s Hay Hill Garden Market has earned a reputation as an outpost for Southern charm and outdoor relaxation in the Midlands. Filled to the brim with rustic antiques and Southern delicacies, the repurposed Garden Market is a place most people can’t get out of their minds. Beautiful fountains connecting a labyrinth of plants and statues make for a charming Saturday morning shopping trip or a memorable event venue.
Partner and principal landscape architect David Stack likes the Garden Market to serve as a showroom for Hay Hill Services’ landscape architects, and the store is stocked with trusted brands like Holland Grills and Campania pottery along with built-in outdoor kitchens and fireplaces. Kevin Shaw, nursery manager, keeps the garden stocked with everything from the exotic to southern favorites.
As one might expect, Hay Hill has Southern tradition in mind this holiday season. Hay Hill Garden Market will be focused on “spreading the Holiday Cheer,” says store manager Blake Hawkins. “Of course, we’ll be selling our handpicked Frasier Firs and handmade wreaths assembled on site, but also an exciting array of rustic Christmas decor and gifts.”
Handmade Birch ornaments, burlap ribbon, locally lathed dough bowls and Southern jams and jellies will certainly make this season bright. With a new arrival of antiques from one of the largest antique shows in the country, Hay Hill has cultivated a collection of pieces that are a must see for all holiday shoppers. Rustic ship windows, beautifully rusted gates, and giant antique stop lights all grace the grounds of Hay Hill. The store has always been renowned for their individuality, but this season they truly have outdone themselves.
Hay Hill also offers answers. If you are trying to find the perfect gift for someone special, the staff is completely capable of talking to you about their products. What oyster steamer should I get? Which Sally’s Jelly is best? What is a microwavable pork rind? What size oyster table fits in my car? What size Primo Grill makes sense for my family? What tropical plants can stay indoors in this cold weather? They have you covered.
