What do you like best about your line of work?
Working in banking allows us to work directly with individuals and businesses to help them be successful. Our customers rely on us to help meet their financial needs, which in turn allows them to grow and prosper. Synovus has a great history of corporate philanthropy — it’s really how we got started. Giving back to the community is a big part of our core values, and it’s very important to me personally.
What is something people would be surprised to learn about you or your business?
I want people to know that, while I like to laugh and have a good time, I take my commitments very seriously. That applies to both my business and personal life. I also think that a healthy work-life balance is extremely important and something I am always trying to achieve for myself and our team members.
What is your favorite pastime?
My wife and I have two young children whom we enjoy spending time with. I’m also an avid follower of Gamecock sports.
How has the Columbia community benefited from your business?
Our bank has a great history in Columbia. We’ve been a part of this market for more than 50 years.
How does your company give back to the Columbia community?
The Synovus Columbia team is very active in the community. Our team members volunteer and serve on numerous boards throughout our community, including United Way Young Leaders Society, Easter Seals, Junior Achievement, The Nurturing Center, Communities in Schools of the Midlands, Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital, City Center Partnership, Midlands Housing Alliance/Transitions, Central Carolina Economic Development Alliance, and the USC Business Partnership Foundation. I believe that as bankers, it’s very important to give our time and talents back to the local community. It is one of the most rewarding aspects of being in our industry.
