How did your business begin?
I started Lourie Life & Health in the spare bedroom of my house in 2011. A few years later, my friend and business partner, Chris Johnson, joined me. The two of us set out to build a different type of insurance agency, one that would be very specialized in Medicare and Health insurance to help consumers in the Midlands.
What is the mission of your business?
Our mission at Lourie Life & Health is to educate our clients on all the options available for Medicare, Health, and Life insurance. We are here to be your local advocate and resource. We care deeply about our clients, and for us, your coverage and protection are personal.
What do you like best about your line of work?
We enjoy helping people make important decisions regarding their health and life coverage. Medicare can be very confusing, and we like to simplify this process so that our clients can feel comfortable and confident with the choices they make.
What is something people would be surprised to learn about your business?
At Lourie Life & Health, we have put together a dynamic and diverse team that is very good at what they do and has a great time doing it. It is not uncommon for people to bring their dogs in, dress the same, sing out loud, tell a bad joke, and there is always food consumed from the time the doors open until we close. Work hard, play hard!
How has your life experience made you successful in your field today?
I spent 18 years in the South Carolina House and Senate. My passion for service and helping others came from my parents. My mother was very involved in the community, and my father spent 28 years in the Legislature before I did. Through this experience, I developed a commitment for improving the lives of others, and Lourie Life & Health is another way to fulfill that mission. My business partner, Chris Johnson, and I have instilled those values in every member of Team Lourie.
