Getting Down to Business: Apizza di Napoli

By Cliff Garzzillo, owner

Cliff Garzzillo

How did your business begin?

It began as a dream many, many years ago. It was a passion and love for the craft.

What is the mission of your business?

To share my joy and passion for pizza with family and friends both old and new — and to create pizza to the best of my abilities as well as to enjoy and respect the art and craft of pizza making.

What differentiates your business from other specialists in the field?

I think I always try to stay creative while holding true to my vision and the traditions that have been passed down to me.

How did you get involved with this business?

I started making pizza as a hobby in my home 35 years ago after moving to Aiken, South Carolina, from New Haven, Connecticut.

What do you like best about your line of work?

Every day I get to meet new people who become regulars. Being able to share stories and experiences, both good and bad, with those who have become friends. I also have the pleasure of working with some very creative and amazing people who are like family.

What inspires you daily?

Upon waking, I know I’ve been blessed by God with a new day to be alive to be able to share with my family and go to a job I love.

What is your favorite pastime?

Spending time with my wife, family, my dogs, and Netflix bingeing.
