Getting Down to Business: AllSouth Federal Credit Union

By Bill Koehler, president & CEO

Bill Koehler

What is the mission of your business?

We started in 1960 as Fort Jackson Federal Credit Union and look forward to celebrating 60 years of service next year. From the beginning, we have been committed to our foundation of people helping people and are guided by our mission of fulfilling dreams and simplifying life by making the every day possible. As a credit union, our customers are members. Our priorities are our members and ensuring we have the best team serving them. Whether it’s helping our members purchase their first home, save for their first child, or go on a great vacation, our goal is to provide a great experience and create lasting relationships.

What differentiates your business from other specialists in the field?

Our team’s compassion and dedication to providing exceptional service sets us apart from other financial institutions. We understand that everyone’s financial situation is different. Making our products and services easy to understand and equally accessible ensures that we are able to provide the best solutions for our members. We aim to make things simple and easy, including buying a car or opening an account when it is convenient, with simple loan and account applications that can be accessible from a mobile phone. You can apply, review, and sign for a loan all from your mobile phone.

What is something people would be surprised to learn about your business?

People are sometimes surprised to find that we offer the same convenient product and service options as a large national bank. With Online and Mobile Banking, Mobile Deposit allowing you to deposit checks on the go, and Mobile Wallet offering a safe and easy way to make purchases from your AllSouth card using your smart phone, you can manage your accounts 24/7 from anywhere. We also offer a wide range of products and services including Interest Checking Accounts, Mortgages, Money Market Accounts, Auto Loans, Personal Loans, and other accounts that offer solutions to help make things possible for you and your family. You can get started today and open an account online at AllSouth.org or in person at any one of our 23 locations throughout the Midlands.

How does your company give back to the Columbia community?

We value the communities we serve and are dedicated to giving back. For more than 23 years, we have raised more than $300,000 through our annual Soldiers and Vets Charity Golf Tournament. Proceeds from the tournament over the years have been donated to Friends of Fisher House, USO, PAALS, American Red Cross, and other charities whose purpose is to support our military community and their families. As an organization, we serve our community through our Employee Volunteer and Casual for a Cause employee programs and have collectively supported organizations such as Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity, the Harvest Hope Food Bank, and other local nonprofit organizations whose primary goal is to assist those facing issues such as family crisis, homelessness, or hunger.
