How did your business begin?
My wife and I used to eat at Eggs Up Grill’s flagship location in Pawleys Island during summer vacations. It was our favorite breakfast spot, and we thought, “How great would it be to bring it back home to our community?” I knew it was just what Columbia needed. Thanks to my business partners, Bill Spacek, Jimmy Carter and George Fisher, Columbia can now have their favorite vacation breakfast any time they want it.
What is the mission of your business?
Our mission is to give the community the best and most fulfilling start to their day. As our menu items are created from scratch, the taste of home is undeniable and so is the feel. From our popular corned beef hash to our plate-sized pancakes, you feel as if you are sliding your chair up to your own dining room table, but your coffee cup never gets empty. By giving excellent service, our customers leave not only with a full belly, but also a full heart.
What do you like best about your line of work?
Seeing customers smiling over their Cuppa Cocoa mugs, servers happily responding quickly to their needs and cooks sending out our quality menu items gives me the most joy in our business. It is essential that our staff members work together like an orchestra and our General Manager, Henry Plowden, ensures each role is playing its part. We make beautiful breakfast music every day.
What are your goals for this year?
We are driven to give back to our community, because it is those people who sit in our booths every morning and allow us to be a part of the sunrise of their day. We strive to connect to our community and will continue to find ways to support it.
Between you, me and the maple syrup, there are some exciting new plans in the works for Eggs Up Grill in the Midlands this year. Stay tuned.
