In 2003, David Coker opened his first Comfort Keepers office in South Carolina. Since then, Comfort Keepers has serviced thousands of clients. Comfort Keepers provides assistance with household tasks, such as light housekeeping and meal preparation as well as personal care tasks, such as bathing and grooming. Comfort Keepers offers its clients a wide range of companionship services including conversation, walks, errands (including transportation) as well as assistance with hobbies and other interests. By providing the right mix of in-home senior care services, the staff at Comfort Keepers is able to help loved ones maintain independence while enhancing their quality of life.
In the spring of 2003, David Coker’s grandmother had a stroke. At that time his mother and her sister were constantly running back and forth to assist with his grandmother’s needs. After doing a little research about Comfort Keepers and meeting with them in Ohio, David came back to South Carolina ready to establish the same service. Comfort Keepers opened in April of that same year.
“Most seniors prefer to stay in their own home and many times, with the addition of a little extra help with daily activities, many of our clients are able to stay safely in the comfort of their own home,” says David. “Our goal is to provide seniors and their families choices for where the senior lives. Even if a senior calls an assisted living facility home, we can provide a level of companionship and service that goes a long way to preserve their quality of life.”
Comfort Keepers now has more than 600 franchise offices nationwide, and David handles the Florence, Sumter and Columbia markets. With the top priority being to ensure their clients receive the best care possible, all three offices have been awarded the Operational Excellence Award and the 2013 Best of Home Care Leader of Excellence and Provider of Choice Award.
