The Columbia Museum of Art Shop offers a unique array of beautiful and creative gifts. Items in the shop are handpicked by shop manager Bohumila Augustinova, a local artist known for her stunningly intricate wire work. Both her artistic sensibilities and her studies in fashion design inform her selections in everything from jewelry to home decor to paper goods.
Bohumila travels to New York City to find the latest trends and timeless classics, bringing back gorgeous gifts of every kind. “The energy in New York is so inspiring to me,” she says. “I always visit MoMA and the Guggenheim, and as many museums as I can. And I see so many new products. A lot of people want to meet with me. But I will only meet with people who have something different, and something of very high quality.”
Her most recent trip revealed an exquisite line of jewelry. The pieces are gorgeous examples of high design, with brushed metal patterns that have both an almost sculptural feel and the warmth of objects designed to be worn.
The work of famous artists throughout history graces many items in the shop, from stationery and journals to puzzles and even scarves. Local artisans contribute as well, bringing handcrafted beauty to bags, lamps, wood carvings and more.
For children, you will find toys and activities of the highest quality. They are not only beautiful, but also thoughtful in their design, made to bring out imagination and creativity in play.
During the holiday season, all gift purchases come with complimentary gift wrapping. And even in this part of your shopping experience, you’ll find that Bohumila has put thought and care into what you receive. This season, come to the CMA Shop for gifts that will be beautiful both before and after they’re opened.
