Charleston Cooks! Cooking Classes

By Abbie Thielke

Roll up those sleeves, throw on an apron and get ready to cook! Charleston Cooks! — an extension of Charleston’s Maverick Southern Kitchens — is in full swing this spring. Located in Cross Hill Market next door to Whole Foods, the bright and welcoming kitchen store also features cooking classes multiple times a week. They host participation classes as well as demonstration classes in which they show attendees how to make more complicated dishes with a tasting sure to follow. Participation classes, however, are much more frequent where guests will work hands-on with the instructors to create a meal that they will then enjoy a generous tasting of, along with a complimentary glass of wine.

Classes range anywhere from $35 for kids to $125 for couples, with most averaging around $60. In March, they will be hosting special classes such as a Mardi Gras cooking class, where the menu includes Louisiana favorites, as well as a St. Patrick’s Day class to toast the luck of the Irish!

Charleston Cooks! offers classes at all times of day, whether it’s for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner. Everything needed for a class is on site; however, most dinner classes include three courses, so arrive with an appetite! For more information or to make reservations call (803) 509-8111 or visit www.CharlestonCooks.com.
