Cardinal Newman has enjoyed tremendous growth over the past 150 years, thanks to the leadership of administrators, faculty, families and friends. Through all of changes, the school has remained focused on encouraging each and every student to achieve personal excellence. Faculty and staff care about developing the whole person by bringing out each student’s unique gifts and talents, and the school’s nurturing environment makes a difference in the lives it touches.
Academic Excellence
Faculty, guidance counselors and families work together to create a plan for academic success for each student. Cardinal Newman offers a multifaceted academic education with a strong emphasis on core subjects, community service and the arts. The college preparatory curriculum is designed to serve a diverse academic population by offering multiple levels of all courses. In the fall of 2012, the school will launch a new learning opportunity, the DeLaSalle Program. This program is a full inclusion program for intellectually challenged students.
Spiritual Excellence
By making community service a part of the core curriculum, Cardinal Newman nurtures and trains its students for civic engagement and teaches the value of community service for the common good. It promotes an understanding of the connection between service and what faith, regardless of denomination, calls one to do and practice. Last year alone, Cardinal Newman students performed more than 14,000 hours of community service.
Athletic Excellence
Athletics are an integral part of the entire developmental program. The opportunity to compete against another school’s program is secondary to the opportunity to learn valuable life skills in a Christian environment. Athletics are kept in proper perspective, recognizing that a student athlete is a student first and an athlete second.
In the next several years, Cardinal Newman will be starting a new chapter in its rich history – the move to a new campus! While the facility may be modern and advanced, the commitment to students and families will remain the same: to create A Place of Excellence for All – Academically, Spiritually and Athletically.
