Boxwoods have a unique versatility for your garden as the perfect anchor or as an accent plant at the front landing of your home. Japanese or Korean are ideal varieties as they are more forgiving than American boxwoods. Also use boxwoods as easy evergreens to display in formal pots. They are typically complemented by underplanting with seasonal annuals.
Boxwood pots are also often used symmetrically at entrances, such as beside driveways or near stairs, front doors and porches. Plant them as a hedge to create a formal garden look. Space plants closer together for a squared hedge and further apart for a rounded hedge. Boxwoods can be used as pyramidal or rounded topiaries in formal pots; but require more maintenance and attention.
