Central Carolina Community Foundation and Columbia Metropolitan Magazine are partnering to present the fourth annual Best of Philanthropy Awards: Honoring Our Community Champions. The purpose of these awards is to honor ordinary people in our community who are making significant contributions through their life’s work. Every day people in our community make a difference. We want to celebrate these people who make giving back a priority for themselves, their family or their business.
We need your help to learn about the people in our community whose actions often go unnoticed except by those who are directly affected by their generosity. Nominations will be accepted from the public in five categories.

- Student/Student Group
- Family
- Group
- Individual
In 500 words or less, the nomination should highlight the persistent effort of the person(s) to address areas of need in our community via their own involvement and participation. The nominations will be reviewed by a panel of judges that includes staff from Columbia Metropolitan Magazine, staff and board members from Central Carolina Community and other members of the community.
Community Champions will be profiled in the November issue of Columbia Metropolitan Magazine. In addition, they will be honored at Central Carolina Community Foundation’s Annual Celebration on Nov. 15, 2013. Each winner will have a $500 donation made in their name to the nonprofit organization of their choice in the Foundation’s 11-county service area in the Midlands.
