Central Carolina Community Foundation and Columbia Metropolitan Magazine are partnering to present the fifth annual “Best of Philanthropy Awards: Honoring Our Community Champions.” The purpose of these awards is to honor ordinary people in the community who make a difference — the goal is to celebrate these people who make giving back a priority for themselves, their family or their businesses.
Nominations will be accepted for the following categories: Local Business, Student/Student Group, Individual/Family and Group.
In 500 words or less, the nomination should highlight the persistent effort of the person(s) to address areas of need in the community through their own involvement and participation. Judging will be based on the following criteria:
What community need(s) does the nominee’s efforts address?
What are the accomplishments generated by the nominee’s efforts?
What makes the nominee unique and stand out among others?
The nominations will be reviewed by a panel of judges from Columbia Metropolitan Magazine, staff and board members from Central Carolina Community Foundation and other members of the community.
The Community Champions will be profiled in Columbia Metropolitan’s November issue and will be honored at Central Carolina Community Foundation’s Annual Celebration on Nov. 13. Winners will receive a $1,000 donation made in their names to the nonprofit organization of their choice in the foundation’s 11-county service area in the Midlands.
The deadline for nominations is June 30. The official nomination form and guidelines can be found at www.yourfoundation.org. For questions, contact Tonia Cochran at (803) 254-5601 or tonia@yourfoundation.org.
