Catastrophic flooding in Columbia
Photography by Jeff Amberg
The morning of Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015 changed many lives forever in the state of South Carolina as flooding of unprecedented proportions surged through neighborhoods and into people’s homes. Areas in Columbia were termed “Ground-Zero” from the flooding, and many streets were devastated including Burwell Lane. These photographs show not only the utter destruction of this natural disaster, but also the resilient spirit of Columbia to help one another and pull from the wreckage to build anew.
