What differentiates your business from other specialists in the field?
We are thankful for the opportunity to tell the folks in the Columbia area what Lake Murray Hearing is all about. We have been around since 1999. Since that time, we have offered comprehensive hearing services to children and adults in the Midlands and beyond. We are one of two independent practices in the area that has multiple audiologists on staff. At Lake Murray Hearing, we take the time with all patients to evaluate them, explain the results and tailor solutions that can give immediate relief to their hearing problems. Lake Murray Hearing is one of the only practices in the area where the staff is trained to treat tinnitus (ringing in the ears), and we are the only providers to offer the Lyric extended wear device (the only truly invisible hearing device on the market that can be worn for months at a time).
What do you like best about your line of work?
For Dr. Long and me, it’s about meeting and helping the people we are in front of every day. There is a sense of family within our group and a sense of community among those who are our patients. When we see someone for the first time, it is very often that we are told, “I have never had a hearing test like that,” or “Everyone is so nice here.” Consequently, many of our patients refer their friends and family to us.
What are the latest developments/innovations in your field?
For sure, the latest technology in the field would include wireless and Bluetooth-enabled devices that allow those with hearing loss to be directly connected to phones, television and music in both ears. Other more recent developments include the ability to hear multiple talkers in noisy environments and rechargeable devices that can work for days with one quick charge. At the end of the day, our goal is to help you hear better.
