ABOUT MCKENZIE BUTLER BAND
McKenzie Butler came to South Carolina by way of Tupelo, Mississippi where she found her love of music at a very early age. She learned her first guitar chords while sitting on a friend’s back porch, and quickly began writing lyrics and putting them to music. McKenzie would eventually share some of her original material with musicians she had met at open mics and acoustic shows. In 2016, the McKenzie Butler Band began rehearsing, recording, and performing for growing audiences. Drummer Barry Harp and bassist Justin Marshall combine for a tight rhythm section while Whit Jones (guitar) and David Headrick (keys) add precise melodies and striking leads to complement McKenzie’s exquisite vocals. Since then, the band has graced stages throughout the southeast including Columbia’s Music Farm and The Fifteenth Annual Birdfest in Pinewood, S.C. The band released a 6-song debut EP of original material in October 2018 and the group is already hard at work on a follow up album.
