The orthodontic practice of Chris Jernigan, DMD, opened in 2004. The practice, located near the entrance of Lake Carolina in Northeast Columbia, is convenient to patients from Blythewood, Elgin, Columbia, Winnsboro, and Lugoff.
Dr. Jernigan attended Gilbert High School, graduating in 1992. He continued his education attending Winthrop University in Rock Hill, completing his undergraduate work and achieving a Bachelor of Science degree in biology in 1996. He then attended dental school and achieved his degree at the Medical University of South Carolina, where he was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor fraternity. Dr. Jernigan completed his three-year orthodontic training in 2003 at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he served as chief resident.
Dr. Jernigan is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, the Southern Association of Orthodontists, the South Carolina Dental Association, the South Carolina Central District Dental Association, and the Mid-Carolina Dental Study Academy.
Dr. Jernigan’s office is a state-of-the-art facility. The office uses the highly precise, iCAT cone beam 3D imaging for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning, virtually eliminating the need for dental impressions. The office is one-of-a-kind with complimentary Wi-Fi, gourmet coffee, a theater room, an ’80s-style arcade, and an Aspen lodge-themed treatment area.
Dr. Jernigan grew up in Gilbert and married his college sweetheart, Jennifer. They have two daughters, Kate and Meredith. Dr. Jernigan attends Village Church in Blythewood, where he plays guitar in the Sunday Worship services.
