Irish Fest Camden 2022

March 5, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

$10

Celebrating its sixth anniversary and fourth year with the grand final day celebration at Historic Camden Revolutionary War Site, Irish Fest Camden will be held on Saturday, March 5 from 10 a.m until 5 p.m.
The event is a non-profit entity with proceeds benefitting Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Camden. Nearly 200 members of the church and community annually volunteer their time to work the festival.
The week of festivities leads up to the grand celebration at Historic Camden Revolutionary War Site. The celebration begins at 10 a.m. and commences at 5 p.m.
The day-long, family friendly event features food and beverage vendors spread through the expansive grounds including an authentic Irish pub featuring Shepherd’s Pie. The Highland Games, a staple of the festival since its start, brings together athletes from throughout the Southeast to compete in such events as the open stone throw, the Braemer Stone throw, the Sheaf and the light and heavy hammer toss have piqued the interest of festival-goers, many of whom are getting their first look at these unique athletic events.
Stations featuring soda, water, beer, coffee and Irish coffee, along with a whiskey-tasting event will also be part of the festivities as will a kids’ zone. There will also be other vendors offering a multitude of food and drink options spread throughout the grounds.
One of the main attractions of the day is live music and this year, the Screaming Orphans, a band of four sisters from County Donegal, Ireland, will make their first appearance at the festival as one of the stops on their U.S, tour.
These rockin’ sisters have been singing and playing traditional Irish music since they were wee babes, starting their first pop rock band in their teens. They made their big break after Sinead O’Connor asked them to sing back-up and open for her Gospel Oak Tour. They have toured across Europe, America and Canada, and appeared on David Letterman and other TV shows as part of O’Connor’s show and as a band in their own right.
The Screaming Orphans are the darlings of the music charts with their
2017 Folk/Irish album “Taproom” having charted No. 1 in the iTunes World Music charts and their 2019 pop album “Life in a Carnival” charted in the top 25 in the iTunes Pop Music charts in the U.S. plus top 10 in the Billboard World Albums charts.
Festival favorite Syr, a Celtic folk rock band which takes inspiration from Celtic history, stories and myth and blends them with their own unique take for a high-energy performance, returns to the festival for a sixth straight year.
Admission into the main event it $10 for adults and $5 for children ages two through 12 and free for infants a year old and younger.
