Delicious? For sure. Tempting? You got it. Devine? Absolutely! The Happy Cookers, located at 3217 Devine Street, has been catering to Columbia and the surrounding area for more than 28 years. Whether you are looking for take-and-bake casseroles or tasty lunch specials or are planning an intimate party or large event, the team at The Happy Cookers will make it unforgettable.
Partners Phil Waddell and Keith Reid have worked together for more than 20 years. Their business strengths differ, but they agree that having a winning team is where you have to start. Their team of expert caterers is as diverse and interesting as the city they serve. They each bring their own experiences to the table, from the multi ethnic foods of the northeast to the Carolina Lowcountry, allowing a unique level of expertise in planning catered events.
Kay Fortune has worked with The Happy Cookers in various capacities for 25 years and brings an abundance of expertise. She currently serves as marketing and sales director. Kay keeps longtime loyal customers “happy” and is always on the lookout for new customers.
Jon Rogers is food and beverage manager. With 20-plus years of food service experience and cost management, he keeps Keith and Phil “happy.” Jon also serves up the delicious lunch menu and daily specials Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Lisa, Phil Waddell’s wife, is kitchen manager and in-house baker. She brings her lowcountry influence to The Happy Cookers. You can’t believe her shrimp and grits! And she bakes up fabulous desserts and sweet treats to make your taste buds “happy,” too. Lisa says, “Entertaining should not be stressful; it should be fun.”
The most recent addition to the team is Jenny Lackey. She brings a wealth of knowledge, having catered for a President, an Oscar winner and several Grammy winners. Enough said. Jenny is responsible for food and menu preparation and development and keeps the kitchen “happy.”
Everyone at The Happy Cookers is excited about their new partnership with EdVenture. The Green Fork Café, coming soon to the children’s museum, will be 100 percent sustainable, will offer healthier fare and will use locally-grown produce in a green, environmentally friendly format.
The team at The Happy Cookers is ready to help with your next occasion. When planning an event, big or small, call on the “happy” staff at (803) 787-7862, or visit anytime to make your event the talk of the town. They promise you will be – you guessed it – happy!
