One in six people in the United States is foreign-born, and more than 750,000 foreign-born people from approximately 200 countries call South Carolina “home.” The strong presence and growth of South Carolina’s international community is a testimonial to the state’s reputation as a welcoming place for businesses and families from across the globe. The Columbia International Festival, held at the Cantey Building on the fairgrounds on April 12, is an enlightening opportunity to learn more about the diverse people living in our state and their cultures.
“No other event brings out the true cosmopolitan aspects of South Carolina like the Columbia International Festival,” says Dr. Raj Aluri, festival director. Considered a Top 20 Event by the Southeast Tourism Society, the
Columbia International Festival features a food court, bazaar, international fashion show, a parade of nations, and international dance and music performances.
